Hi all,
I built a media server based on an X58 Extreme, with 12gb ram and 6 2tb WD hard drives. A few months into use, we had a double hard drive failure. One of the two hard drives from the mirrored array failed, and 1 hard drive of the four in the RAID 5 array failed. i bought 2 new RE4GP enterprise class hard drives (replacing the original WD Caviar Green drives i used). Replacing the drive in the mirrored array went fine. When we put the new drive into the RAID 5 array however, it failed almost immediately.
Is there any way to test the mobo sata ports themselves? I am trying now to swap the "Failed" drive into the mirrored array and see if it fails there. Any other ideas?
THanks
