  • What causes this error?

Running a Visual Basic program (ie created using VB), what gives the following error? I have tried updating my version of VB from Microsoft's website, but it doesn't work :(

What am I doing wrong?

OK - Wiggo suggested that I move this thread to this forum - thanks mate :thumb:

Of course, I downloaded the latest VB runtime files from Microsoft but no joy

Arg, Common Dialogs really ****e me :(.

Okay, you've checked you've got the latest VB runtime files - now check to make sure you've got the latest COMDLG32.ocx file... not sure where you can grab it from, MS probably...

Found a download on a 3rd party site, didn't work (yes I remembered to scan it for viruses) ;) Microsoft's site is a pain in the arse to find stuff on, if anyone can help it would be gratefully appreciated... never had this error before :(

make sure whwen you package the program you are including this file and also remember to add it in the components section of the program before you run it. I have that problem sometimes in VB.

The first site didn't work, and when I right-clicked the file to save it, a whole string of Portuguese popup boxes appeared

The second popped up at some advertising site, no luck either :(

                    !@#
sorry albinus.... i was half awake at the time of my post, didn't bother to double check it.

                    anyway, try going to http://www.windrivers.com/

go down to the search thingy in the middle of the page and type in the file there. it should give you a list of sites.

but here is another one of them to save you some time:

                    http://ss.clayjar.com/download/RequiredFiles/

and for the site i posted before, i tested it out before i did the post and it worked fine, just DON'T RIGHT CLICK. Its a zip file so your explorer should open up the download box.

                    [EDIT]

since i had some free time on my hands, here is another site:

                    http://www.uforesources.com/dlldownload.html

                    and this site might help:
