  • Sick and Tired of MSN Messenger

    <rant>

    I am sick and tired of MSN Messenger, mainly for the attached stupid Microsoft-like error.

    Does anyone know how to totally remove MSN Messenger from my Windows XP Pro system.

    I am switching to Trillian for good this time.

    :hammer: :hammer: :hammer:

      1). You should already be using Trillian.

      2). You should check the XP Tweaking Guides on your own site :p.

      3). Or if you're too lazy, just go to 'Run...' and enter:

      RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

      :)

          the way u r sounding u seem to be wanting to uninstall msn messenger. i haven't tried uninstalling so don't know abt the consequences. but if u really want to unistall, here is the way out.
          go to...

          C:\WINDOWS\inf
          find a file sysoc.inf

          look for the entry
          msmsgs=msgrocm.dll,OcEntry,msmsgs.inf,hide,7

          delete the thing "hide" from it to make it look like
          msmsgs=msgrocm.dll,OcEntry,msmsgs.inf,,7

          save the file and reboot.
          now look for msn messenger in "Add/Remove Programs" and u can unistall it.

                          Yeah, i always uninstall that nasty little app first thing after a fresh win xp install.

                          Type the command - reboot = the sucker is dead!

                              Last time I uninstalled MSN messenger, my broadband connection mysteriously didn't work anymore.. :\

                              Could have been just coincidental downtime..;x
