Internet Explorer 6.0

:hammer: Whenever I load a site from internet explorer then click on a link from within that site that wants to open another explorer page then the main page just duplicates itself and the egg timer starts and doesn't stop. I have to close the page down and it just reurns me to my already opened site main page. What can be causing this & how do I stop this from happening?
I'm running XP Pro on an Athlon 1.4GHz processer.

It could be a number of things causing this. I'll throw out a few things that come to mind so you can make a checklist of sorts. Hopefully this will help narrow the possible culprits down.

• 1. Are you running an active Internet Security program (Firewall) such as Norton Internet Security 2000/01/02/03, or ZoneAlarm? If so, try disabling it as a test when you open the pages causing the problems.
  
  2. Does the page do the same thing when you right click the link and select "Open in New Window"? Some pages do not use the 'target="_blank"' correctly in a link to specify that the page should be opened in a new window.
  
  3. Have you been having ISP troubles lately, or have they recently updated or installed a hardware firewall? Some brick managed firewalls cause loading problems, or slowdowns. Maybe placing a call to your ISP to ask them if this has happened might help.
  
  4. Are you using a specific proxy, such as an anonymizer or simply a free proxy to direct your traffic through? If so, that can also cause major problems if the proxy server is having issues.
  
  5. Are you using any add on software, such as Yahoo! Companion, or Gator Corporation that attach themselves to your toolbars? Those too, can cause unwanted and unnecessary problems.

As I said before, this is just a simple checklist and possible solutions. Maybe in the process of going through, you might find something suspicious. :thumb:
