  • Recommended Backup Software that is low cost please

Hi guys I need a recommendation on some backup software or some links to reviews on backup software. Also include online backup recommendations too please. There are so many choices out there so I hope to narrow my choice down to a few good choices.
    Thanks in advance

Oh my gosh, such a quick reply thanks. I will check these out ASAP. and by the way the DS3R is OK cept for a few hardware related problems(mouse went bad and later spilled water on the keyboard then the 1's started appearing while pressing the shift key every time) Think I will try a new keyboard as suggested in majorgeeks forum.

Ya, I really like snapshot myself, so I bought it. Easus is good though too and it is free, and has a nice GUI.

Good luck on selecting a new mouse and KB! Great to hear you are liking your DS3R, P45's are very strong boards!

Actually I am having more trouble than I suspected with the keyboard and mouse. After replacing the mouse with a known good mouse, I had problems with keyboard after water got on it. Then the mouse got stuck in a non scroll mode that switched the IE pages back and forth instead of scrolling Well, I will uninstall as the troubleshooter (in the help section of PC) advised and reinstall. I also checked some non important BIOS settings for Hard drive wait time and the Backup BIOS to hard drive setting to:Enabeled This one setting may have caused my later problem to not boot. I will update my other Main post as time allows.
Thanks Its reinstall time and no I did not get a backup that I can use(no thanks the acronis TI 9. :(

If you are using, or plan to use, RAID do not enable backup BIOS to hard drive feature, it will corrupt your arrays.

If you want to keep a backup of your whole PC in case something goes terribly wrong, then Acronis Image is best, if you want software to backup files and folders for easy access when you mistakenly delete something or misplace a file, then OopsBackup is best...i use them both.

              Acronis is about E50 / $60, OopsBackup is about E29 / $36

...acronis is more for businesses, oops for home users...

                  I use these:
                  01.
Clonezilla for backups of drives/partitions, including operation systems and apps etcetera. Its open source (FREE), its from the makers of FileZilla. Highly Recommend!
                  02. PowerQuest DataKeeper, is good for automating backups of folders/files on different drives.
                  03. Raid 1, is recommend for redundancy, so if one drive dies, you have a mirror to continue working with until you replace the broken drive.

Macrium Reflect is also good, and free.

This program restores alignment (From image), or respects current partition aliments as well.

You mentioned something about online backup services. Check out CrashPlan.com (free), they allow you to backup your computer to another computer (friends, family, work computer). That will provide you offsite redundancy.

well I used to use an off-site storage service protection but my mom’s house almost burned down (fire got very close to her house) so I use zenOK Online Backup now, the next day I started looking for a good data store service. So I looked forward backup all data files, including music, photos, etc. Right now zenok got 100GB of my data, and if I ever need a few files I can download them… or if I need it all too, I didnt trust the free online backups I just really dont love having cheap & reliable backup storage for my important files and then theres nobody you can go to claim.

                            XD

I've been using Amazon S3 and JungleDisk for several years and have no complaints. It's not free, but I think it's cheap compared to the alternatives.
