Ok can you explain how this can be illegal when you can legally purchase the software to get passed lost passwords for zip files.

Is my understanding that it would be perfectly legal to use for your own use, but maybe illegal if used to get into some elses data.

Odds are good that if someone is trying to crack a password that it is not their own information they are attempting to access. If one has information important enough to lock up then they are not likely to throw away the key afterwards.

its because that software is someones intellectual property and you are paying them for the time that they have put into it and will continue to put into developing that software and supporting it.

Anything used to "crack" anything is not going to get support on forums such as Tweaktown. While the concept of "Pkzip" may not be illegal since it could be used for legal personal reasons, the majority of its users would undoubtedly be doing something illegal with it. Your best bet is to find a forum that is OK with talking about crack's and warez and such, but that is just not acceptable here. There is no need for further discussion on this as well. Thank you.
