  • WMP Wacky

I am sorry for starting a new thread

WMP doesnt work ! I have never used WMP before. (Mainly because it never worked for me)
I tried unninstalling it, updating, installing older versions, reinstalling. I cant unninstall because it isnt on my program list. When I try to run it the hourglass comes on for a second or two then nothing. Before it would display "an inernal application error has occured." Please help!!!

My dell doesnt come with an insallation disk for windows that originally came with the OS, hence I cannot reinstall WMP

You can just uninstall it and install WMP 10 from MS website.

Click on the Add/Remove Windows components tab in your Add/Remove programs list. You will find it there.

                Re: WMP Wacky

Download the WMP10 setup file. Try to install it, see what that gets you. Use the "Repair" feature if it has it.

                  Re: WMP Wacky

I tried to install it, it extracted the files then said a newer version of WMP is running, setup cannot continue.

                      Re: WMP Wacky

If it says a newer version is running you may want to see if WMP is running in the background. Check task manager and shut off all non essential processes before trying again.

I have never used WMP on my file before, or on any file on my comp, it has never appeared in hte taskbar either,
The URGE software that came with WMP11 beta does the same thing, the hourglass appears for a sec then nothing happens.

I'll be honest, this is an interesting problem. Can't Add/Remove it...can't install a newer version... The only thing that makes me consider is a Registry problem. Have you by chance tweaked your registry?

I don't even know what a registry is, all ive tweaked is my boot(shaved 30 seconds off)
