Sorry I didn't know about this when Mama3chick needed it.

Here's a freeware program to recover those accidently deleted/lost due to system failure files.
Does not work on damaged drives or on NTFS formatted drives.
    NTFS support is promised soon.
    Compatible with Windows95, 98, NT, 2000 and FAT-formatted XP.

I DL'ed the rescue disk.zip version and placed it on a floppy to use for emergency.
Then I deleted 9 jpg's and was able to locate them all on my drive.
6 out of 9 files were recovered successfully - not bad considering it's free.
Possibly might do even better if one were to tweak the options/read the help files. Maybe?

All things considered, a 66% success rate isn't bad for that price!
Could sure save a lot of time in an emergency.

(NOTE: yes, this is a near duplicate of a previous post by myself. However I thought it could be valuable information to someone someday, download it now just in case that someone might be you.)
A small amount of insurance for the price of a floppy: party ha

norton disk doctor works well & so does lost & found

both must be run from dos boot disk - ndd is much easier - been able to bring whole HD's back and get every file (all the important ones) - they also work on NTFS, & floppies

Mmm yeah, I was just wanting to let people know there was a free tool available, that might be somewhat effective.

As in to say - what's that Norton proggy cost??

Although admittedly, I presume this is a classic case of; You get what you pay for. Free always has had some unexplainable attraction for me. :D

I think they are both around the $100 AUS mark - if its important enough its worth buying it

I know with Lost and found u check to see if it finds the files before u pay for it
