  • $200 7900gtx, $140 7900gt, or $100 x1900gt?

Somebody help me decide, quick.. I can buy these tomorrow at these prices.. they're second hand, but should be in good-as-new condition.

    Which is the best deal?

    $200 - 7900gtx
    $140 - 7900gt
    $100 - at x1900gt

The ati card seems really tempting because it's so cheap and it's already supposed to be the 7900gt's competitor.

    WHAT AM I TO DOO?!?!?!?

Strictly from a "Best Deal" aspect, the 7900GTX will be your best buy. It is being offered at over half off current prices right now. New ones are still being offered online (when you can find them) for around the $470-500 range. It will also be the best performer by a goodly margin.

Just for reference, here is a Tweaktown comparison test between two cards that are very similar to 7900GT and X1900GT.

Gigabyte has created some new graphics cards which use aftermarket Zalman coolers. We check out the X1950PRO and 7900GS.

The test shows a large increase in performance in overclocking for the 7900GS which is similar to the 7900GT.

Thanks for the advice - I bought the gtx and it works fine :)
This should tide me over for a year or so, although if the rest of the g80 or r60 cards turn out to be affordable and substantially better in performance, I will most def opt to upgrade.. again.
