My 60 gb gxp60 died a couple of days ago.

I have found a Maxtor, heard alot good about this disks but also some problems. What is your opinion, better than the ibm disk i hope... hehe It's an 80 gb drive 7200 rpm with some kind of oil bearing ****, btw wtf is that?

The gxp120 series can very well be mutch better and improved though...

A lot of Maxtor drives of late have had reliability issues. You'd be better served with either a Seagate or Western Digital drive. Both offer good performance and long life, but the WD 8MB models are where you'll find the best overall performance. :)

I see, let's just hope my new Maxtor lasts a bit longer...
I will report if i should get any stability problems with the disk.

Go seagate for 2MB cache, and WD for 8MB cache, maxtor isnt so great these days.
