  • much diff between 7200 & 10000 RPM?

    hey guys!

I'm looking at getting a new HDD and would like to know if it's worth while getting a 10000 RPM with 8mb buffer or just a 7200RPM? would there be any signifivant boost in accessing speed/time?

    thanks

      Depends:

In theory, it should be a big performance boost, but by some of the charts there, I might not be worth it. Read through it and decide for your self (I'll be sticking with the bigger, cheaper drives myself).

I just recently retired my WD JB1200 to a data storage role when I added a WD Raptor II as the main drive and the difference is very noticable (much faster boot and program loading times) but this would be a better review to read from there as it includes a couple of newer drives that are about now.
