  • new IDE cable design 15% improvement on read/write speed?

Has anyone checked out these cables by Gladiator or seen a test/review?

They are a shielded and grounded design that claim a 15% improvement on read/write speed - sounds good!

I'd have a hard time believing a 15% increase over a quality round cable.

Yes indeed, 15% is a big call isn't it! Way too big it seems.

I found this revue on them:

          This is the manufacturers site:

That's pretty much what what all rounded cables do. :smokin:

              Is that right?

I've just ordered a couple of rounded cables!

Could I possibly see a decrease in performance??

Can you point me in the right direction for info on this issue?

How about the meaning of life while I'm on a roll?

Rounded cables I find are actually only good for cd rom or top mounted hdds - lets face it ide cables fold easier when they are not round ...

The main idea behind rounded cables is to allow better airflow, not to fold cables :)

I honestly doubt they'd offer any real performance benefits.

Even if they did add some performance, wouldnt that be negated by HDD and Southbridge? Im pretty skeptical myself, but at those prices, ill live at %15 less than whats possible. (35 for one)

I think what they mean by the performance increase....is for the people that are having interference due to the power cable overlap the IDE cable. Thus, for people that are having this problem...and having a ground around the cable will cause less intereference.

                          get my Idea? :)

hehehe they will say any thing to sell ya crap... i mean they are good cables for decreasing the air resistance but 15% better preformance on read/write i mean who makes this stuff up. It would of made more sense if they put thouse thin neon lights inside the cables so they glow, seen this somewhere looked sweet :p
