Well, I guess that explains the price cut on current Athlons yesterday. Now you can get a XP2000 for just $A235 :)

That should be around 3 times faster than slot A Athlon 700?

        webe3,
Ren is from Australia. Their dollar value is roughly half of ours. After figuring in shipping and tariffs, you'd be looking at a price increase if ordered from NewEgg.com

Wiggo Now AMD is really starting to be interesting. What MB's would you recommend that would give the maximum OC potential?

Any of the better KT333 boards shouldn't be a prob other than maybe a BIOS flash. Remember that these are still officially a 266MHz FSB CPU's so some KT266A boards would also be quite ok.
With the KT400 chipset just being released I don't really think will this chipset will offer anymore performance advantage over the KT333 for these particular CPU's as the bandwidth is more than can be used. The new speed of the V-Link (2x) connection may make a little impression though in different areas.

Officially 266, but are they likely to be able to be pushed to 333?

Yes rather easily in some cases, it will be better when they workout the proper combination for unlocking these T'bred B's. ;)

Intel has some competition again. :D

Are the lower Athlons (1800+ through 2100+) getting replaced by Tbred A or B?

ATM the A's are filtering down but once that stock is gone the B's will eventually take over. ;)

Apparently someone OC'd this 2600+ to 2.8GHZ with watercooling. Which would correspond to 3400+, not bad at all.

Isnt Intel releasing its new chipsets on Monday, including the P4 2.8Ghz?

That maybe but word has it that AMD is ready with at least 1 and maybe 2 speed stepups ready for next month and "Barton" is not far away either. ;)
