I have and its still the same it runs rock solid stable without the ht things windows installed overclocked and at stock

Thats quite odd. I dunno if this is the case, but since its wa different it may require a reinstall, but IMO that shouldn't be the case because I can switch HT on and off no problem.
Do you have the latest mobo chipset drivers? If not, download and install them. Hell, even if you have an older version of the drivers reinstall them and see what happens

I have tried that also but as soon as i enable ht windows installes something and 10 minutes later its the "BSOD" and i have to restart wiyh last known good configuration and everything is fine apart from i have no hyper threading :(

I'm about out of ideas here. You may just want to backup what you want to save and reinstall XP.

Thanks for all your help i think thats what i will do the only thing is if it still doesnt work i will have to format then reinstall xp again with the 1.9 then install the 3.06 :?:

The HAL (Hardware Abstraction Layer) is a set of drivers, upon which the Windows NT kernel is based. If the installed HAL is incorrect, you may have a problem ranging from certain settings not working (such as APM) to Windows not starting at all. Note that the concept of a HAL doesn't apply to Windows 95, 98, and Me.
To see which HAL is currently installed, open Device Manager, and expand the Computer branch. The entry that appears in this branch corresponds to the currently installed HAL.

Although Windows will allow you to specify a new HAL here by double-clicking, selecting the Driver tab, and clicking Update Driver, DON'T DO IT. Instead, to install a new HAL, you need to reinstall Windows:

1)Boot off your Windows 2000 or XP CD.
2)When asked if you want to install or repair your current installation, choose Install.
3)Then, follow the steps to upgrade Windows (even though you're not technically upgrading, you are updating your HAL).

That should do it!

Install will still format your HD. Repair won't. Also, I was thinking, do you have ACPI enabled in the Bios, because I believe it needs to be for HT to work properly

Do you think a repair of window with ht enabled might work ? And is HYPER THREADING realy worth it?

Hi there,

I've got the same problem. BSOD - WORKER_THREAD_RETURNED_AT_BAD_IRQL, with hyper-threading enabled in bios.

Did repair solve it?
