  • Bulldozer compatible mainboards?

    Hey

As some of you know, I plan on upgrading my system as soon as the bulldozer hits the shelves in Europe. Originally i had planned to upgrade to a "normal" phenom 6core this summer, but with the bulldozer around the corner I've decided to wait for it. (8core)

But since I still run with a ddr2 mainboard (800mhz) I'm thinking of upgrading the mainboard and ram ahead of time. Have I understood it right that basically any AM3+ board (990FX chipset) will support it?
Or are there any new boards on their way so it would be smart to wait to upgrade? I really like ASUS cause of their support when you got a problem, so have been considering the Sabertooth. But I'm always open for any suggestions or recommendations.

I don't plan on doing massive overclocking or run multiple GFX cards - I simply don't need that much power for the little gaming I do. I have a HD6870 as gfx card, so that should do just fine for a while.

My current CPU is a black edition 9850 quadcore running at stock speed, and it has done just fine till now. That one should be just fine compatible wise with these mainboards?

    Any input is welcome.

    Current system summary:
    Motherboard: Gigabyte M68M-S2P
    Processor: AMD Phenom X4 9850 @ 2.5GHz
    Memory: AData 4GB (2x2) 800MHz DDR2

My advice - never visit a short-url, no matter who gives it to you. You can't trust any source at any time when you don't know your target

Snuggles: Zotac Zbox HD-ID40 (Atom d525, worst purchase ever on cpu), Patriot Pyro 60GB (Thanks to Tweaktown Giveaway), 4GB 800' DDR2 SO-DIMM

    Re: Bulldozer compatible mainboards?

As you said, any AM3+ mb will support bulldozer. All mainstream manufacturers have good solutions at the time (Asrock, Giga, Asus, MSI). But I recommend wait a little for two reason:
1- USB 3.0 is being implemented inside main chip of the board. For Fusion series it is made now and for incoming AM3+ chips, I think It will too.
2- The same situation for PCI-E 3.0. For Z68 (intel) chip it is available and naturally AMD will make it on future products.
