  • Mobo Recommendation Needed - P4 2.26Ghz

    I could use your "expert" help on suggesting a solid motherboard for a new PC I'll build.

    - P4 2.26Ghz Northwood CPU
    - Want PC2700/DDR333 memory as 1st choice, may accept DDR266, PC800 RDRAM, PC1066 RDRAM (last choice probably too expensive when combined with mobo)
    - Yes, I'll probably want to overclock it eventually.
    - Performance/stability/configurability are first. Bonuses like decent sound, LAN built-in, USB2.0 are nice, though I'll probably get separate card for sound
    - Price - would like to keep it under US$145

    Am considering the following, but may be missing out on a great option...
    * Gigabyte 8IEXP (i845E) - great, except no PC2700/DDR333 - US$133
    * MSI 645E MAX-C (MS-6547E) (SiS645DX), Cheap (US$79), DDR333 support, but haven't heard much about it
    * ASUS P4S533 (SiS645DX) - DDR333 support, but haven't heard much about it either (US$105)
    * Soyo P4S 645DX (SiS645DX) - Expensive at US$160+

          I seem to remember that one of Epox's new i845E boards has unofficial DDR333 support, can't remember the model tho......
