i m a fan of asus MB dat i've been using for long. for casual use, the rampage II gene would be an option. it's with ROG but also small in size with great performances.
Intel core i7, x58 chipset, up to 6.4 GT/switch Patch Interconnection, 6x DIMM, Triple channel, up to 24G, support Nvidia SLI/ATI CrossFireX

When I do end up doing a I7 Build Im going to go with liquid cooling as I live in a very hot climate and my C2D literally heats my room up. lol. Plus Liquid is kewl. In Australia Any X58 Motherboard is super expensive pretty much so, I would probably go with a top one. I like the GA-EX58-Extreme or something. IDK

Over on xtremesystems forums, that board is very well regarded as a killer overclocker. And it has so many bells and whistles that you'll be finding new stuff on it a year down the road. Great motherboard. If I could have gone for something less budget, that would have been my choice as well. Gigabyte has been hitting the nail on the head for me for the last 3 boards I've gotten from them.

Still kinda bummed there won't be an Abit X58 board though. That's the only thing that might have swayed me away from Gigabyte.

The EX58-Extreme is $550 AUD, A little saving is needed first. But it wont be long until the price will drop. It has already started on CI7 Stuff. LOL, Your right, you probably would find new cool stuff down the track on that board. I just want to get a board with the Liquid cooling built into the NB heatpips so its just easy and neat to plumb it up. Ive givin myself a goal now. I only need to convince the wife now. lol.

I agree that the board is pretty good for overclocking, though a bit expensive at your end but you get what you pay for.

Yup. BUT, you can still get badass for alot less. NimrodAUS has a need for northbridge watercooling or I would have recommended the UD5 or even the UD4P over the Extreme any day. But if you want pre-installed northbridge watercooling on your X58, the Extreme is as good as it gets.
