  • asus neo2-p 865pe

    i recently bought this asus motherboard and didn't realize it calls for a northwood/prescott p4 processor, would just a regular socket 478 processor work b/c the description it gives is prescott/northwood (socket 478) processors. help!

    Yes... Northwoods and Prescotts are "regular" socket 478 processors.

      anybody else agree with this?
      oh slight modification to the question, are other socket 478 processors able to be used in place of the prescott/northwood

          If it'll take a Prescott it will take any socket 478 processor.

            so if i use just a regular socket 478 im not going to fry the processor or motherboard (for compatibility reasons ) if so you have taken a load off my mind

              Nope, you won't fry anything. Even if they weren't compatible, you wouldn't fry anything. It would just refuse to work properly/at all.
