  • PCI slot version?

How do i find out what version my PCI slots are. My dell's manual doesn't tell me and the sound card im looking at requires v2.1 PCI slots. The dell is a little over 2 years old if that helps. Thanks

I also have a Dell system thats 2 years old(1.5 ghz willamette 512 mb sd ram 133mhz) you're fine. Motherboards 2 years or younger should use pci v 2.1.

So no worries  Go! spend money!! :devilwin

To anwser your question any processor from a Pentium 3 and beyond will use and lest pci version 2.0 P4 uses 2.1.

One method of determining PCI 2.1 compliance would be to open your system properties ( Windows key + Pause/Break )
      Go to the Device Manager
      then system devices
      PCI Bus
      Properties
Look for an IRQ Steering tab

      for Windows 98
