  • Check out this mobo

I'm planning on buying this in the near future, it's got everything I need... I think, do you guys think it's any good? Should there be something on it that isn't there?

    FIC AU13 Motherboard

Not bad the inclusion of a serial ata raid is nice. however this board is not much on visuals. If you were thinking about modding your case you would not really have a pictorial view of your MoBo through your window. My advice would be that if you are going to mod your case look around for something a bit more spectacular. But if you werent hey its a full featured board that is pretty dam cheap although the price will most likely be in us dollars and the company is pretty no name therefore the performance might not be a strong point but hey for around 150-200 bucks go 4 it.

LOL! Ugly motherboard? Is that possible?

I buy stuff that works, period. What good is a rice'd out computer that crashes all the time?

The case I'm getting has a full window in it, but I really don't care what color the motherboard looks like, there will be wires and PCI cards covering most of it. As for the "no name" brand, I don't think it would be slower because of the brand... the parts make the speed, don't they?

FIC has burned me in the past. Also, Tiger Direct is not a place I'd recommend buying from---I've seen too many people get screwed over by them to even consider buying stuff off them.

Crap. What kind of motherboard would you suggest? I need an nForce2 chipset, PC-3200 400 MGz DDR RAM, 8x AGP, AMD Athlon XP up to at least 2600+, 4 USB 2.0 ports, and I think that's it. Also I have a 40 Gb hard drive and I've heard a lot about RAID controllers and stuff, what is RAID??

Whew, what about this one: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...2020&CatId=179

and it says you can overclock with it! is biostar good? doesn't have enough USB ports though

Oh and I won't probably get it from tigerdirect cuz they are too expensive... I ordered from Acubyte once, they were OK. The thing I like about tigerdirect is that you know you can trust them and the parts are new and they're safe to order from. anyone know a better place?

And also I'm seeing these really expensive motherboards with KT400 chipsets... are they as good or better than the nForce2 chipset? I'm so confused :wow:

The page keeps coming up as "Page not found".

Look here for the listing of available AMD boards from Epox: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...tby=14&order=1
                  Abit: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...tby=14&order=1
                  AOpen: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...tby=14&order=1
                  Asus: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...tby=14&order=1
                  Gigabyte: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...tby=14&order=1
                  MSI: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...tby=14&order=1

And the main listing for AMD motherboards at Newegg: http://www.newegg.com/app/manufactor...alog=22&DEPA=1

I pretty much swear by Newegg, and they are very reliable. I've bought at least $1000 worth of stuff from them. I've never had any problems with their service at all.

Compare the features of the KT400 and nForce 2 boards instead of prices.

Hmm, the link must have changed or something; it was working earlier. It's the Biostar M7NCD Pro, socket A. Looks awesome and supports CPU's up to Athlon XP 3200+ as well as DDR400 PC-3200 RAM.

And did you know that PC-4000 DDR RAM is out??? I just noticed that, must be high-quality stuff.

Ok I found a Biostar that looks pretty good, supports more advanced stuff than that FIC did also. I've heard some good things about Biostar, too :) Here it is: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...2020&CatId=179
It would look good in a window, too!

I'm also planning on buying some new RAM and need an opinion in it, it's PC-3200 DDR RAM (400 MHz) Here's the link: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...4904&CatId=858
                        Cosair is good right?

I don't think I'll get it from tigerdirect.com though cuz they're a rip off, but they are reliable. Would your reccomend a different place to buy stuff?

                        Thanks!

                          Newegg

Ummm...I recommend Newegg. Good prices all around and usually decent shipping costs. Some stuff has it free for the basic shipping.

A Biostar is worse than an FIC one.

Look for a decent brand like Abit, ASUS, Gigabyte or my favourite EPoX.
