    The system came with 4GB and I added 4GB to total 8GB of memory.
    Every thing works fine except it takes a lot longer to shut down.
    Any idea why?

    what motherboard? you might need to turn off any unused sata ports ect,and turn off floppy drive and drive A if not being used,it will speed up start up and shut down times,set hdd delay to 0 if you have that option in the bios

      Sorry for the slow reply.
      My mother board is Intel DP55WB.
      I don't have a floppy drive and the start up time is the same as before i added the memory.
      Since i added the extra 4GB of memory it takes about 1 minute and 30 seconds
      to shut down. Maybe that is normal, i am not really sure.

        I think you already know that system has to close any opened tasks. It has set time to wait for apps to close before forcing them to do it. It may not be RAM. Also erasing pagefile will increase shutdown twice or maybe even more. But you can also try to remove 4gb for a while to check it out.
