  • Need help with upgrade of memory.....advice

    Hi folks!

I have read several articles about computer memories and tried to understand which to buy but I find it hard to grasp all the information (do not know if it's IQ capacity shortages or bad skills ;).

I would like to upgrade to more RAM when because I am working with many programs simultaneously, and playing "heavy" games and want to play BF3 when it comes out as well. Currently I have 6 GB frame from A-Data. Should I buy 6GB of the same brands or should I switch to another company? Should I upgrade to 12, 16 or 24 GB?

    My system is:

-Asus Rampage II Gene microATX motherboard (supports tripple channel)
    -Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz
    -A-Data Technology DDR3-SDRAM PC3-10700 (667MHz) - [DDR3-1333] (6GB)
    -ATI Radeon HD 5800 Series

    Tnx for alla answers!

    Cheers Predaking

Maybe sell the 6GB you have now and buy a faster 6GB kit, you probably don't need more than 6GB unless you are editing large videos

I agree faster ram would help, maybe 1600mhz or 1800mhz with a slight overclock of your cpu which would help in gaming too

I have no problems running games with 6gb of ram and a less powerfull gpu

Have you overclocked your cpu or your memory speeds?
What is the exact model number or part number of your current memory?
Adding more memory or upgrading to faster memory might not be necessary if you are willing to overclock your system.
