Modem Boosters

Has anyone out there, that is, like me a poor sap stuck one Dial up, ever used a modem booster or internet accelerator? if so what brands, how well did they work, where did ya get them? I am stuck on a 28,800 connection and average about 24k/b transfer speed. Looking for a way to try and boost performance but any ammount.

They all do the exact same thing, just have a different way of presenting how they do it - you should not need to buy an actual program.

My tip: use the most basic program you can find, many are filled with useless crap you will never need.

Thanks. Downloading at 2.8 k/s really sucks and anything i can do to speed things up would help! Have you used any of them and do they really work?

They work, but they are not a magical cure to 56k - you will get better response times to servers and slightly faster downloads.
