  • How can I tell how much I've D/L?

    Howdy,

I have recently got cable and can d/l 2GB a month.... Now I know this a quite a bit but I'm struggling to pay for it as it is so I don't want any suprises at the end of the month....

Is there a program or a windows feature which can monitor my connection and tell me how much I've D/led??

Sorry if this has been asked b4 but I did a quick search and couldn't find anything...

    Cheers

If your ISP hasn't given you any software, try the accounts section on their website. That's about all I can come up with.

You should be able to log into your account and it should show you there somewhere just how much you have d/l.

I usually check my account about halfway through the month just to see how I'm travelling, then towards the end of the month I steady myself not to go over the limit (I usually cut it very fine, ya gotta get your monies worth out of them).

Try a program that I have found called Download Meter. It runs at startup and provides a nice looking transparent graph (if you've got win2k/xp) and monitors your uploads and downloads and also provides a summary and a estimated use for one months usage. I think it also provides a warning when you get close to a amount.

          Hope this helps,

Here in Aus you have a limit with your plan you pick, they are all different depending on who you provider is, and the charges vary if you go over your limit. With the plan I'm on they charge you an extra .20c per MB that you go over.

My favorite program to monitor downloads is called DU Meter. It is available at http://www.dumeter.com/

I am running an old version of it, and the newer versions that are out now have more features, but, my old versioin which is easy to find, does everything I need.

It has a meter so you can monitor traffic in general:

It also has a totals counter, which you can reset at whatever interval you choose:

Another cool feature is the Stopwatch:

This is a great program, and I would reccomend it to anyone.

wow. That truly sucks. I couldn't even imagine getting a cap on how much I'm aloud to download. You know what? That kind of thing you expect from a free service. Only allowing a very limited amount of bandwidth. And upon reaching that bandwidth you get the page saying you reached the bandwidth. But your paying alot of money for your internet service and yoru only aloud to download 2 gig? I mean think about how much megs worth of webpages you go to. Or email. Or instant messaging cause that is downloading too. Or quite simplyyou can't even download 3 movies without going "past your bandwidth"

Pretty much everything is capped now in Australia. I'm paying $110 / month (approx $55 US) for an ADSL 512/128 connection, with a 10GB cap. Which isn't exactly cheap... but it's the best I can do.

Well on Optus I pay $63.95aus p/m ($31us) for cable w/ a 3GB limit but once you hit that they just cut ya back to a slow dailup rate till the end on the month but don't charge for the extra download amount. I have yet to hit the slow down point yet though. My members account has a monitor too. :smokin:

Wow, I am in Minnesota, and I pay $24 US for a 2Mbit cable modem, with unilmited downloads. I couldnt imagine only dl'ing 2 or 3 gigs a month.
