frame rate is worse after upgrade

I just got a new laptop, with slightly better performance specs than my last one. When trying to run games, even after tweaking them to the best of my ability, the frame rates are awful, even worse than what i had with my last laptop. Any suggestions? My current computer has the following specs:
2.6Ghz Celeron
256MB DDR RAM
64MB Radeon 345
40GB hard drive

Well I'm assuming your using WinXP on the new one, and maybe you weren't on the old one and had maybe the same amount of RAM or at least 128mb or more on the old one. If thats the case, than the reason is because Windows XP needs 512mb of RAM to run comfortably with games. Also, you could try making your paging file larger

Let me guess, the upgrade included a gfx downgrade? What did you have before?
