Just got my system running, kinda. I can do a clean Windows XP Pro install, install drivers for my video, etc., buy as soon as I install the drivers for the LANParty NF II ultra mobo (nforce 2 chipset), when it reboots, system is toast. keep getting various errot messages, "system cannot flush, dump, etc, registry or image of registry on hard drive" or "cannot save data to $something-or-other file because of hardware error", anyone else had these problems? because these are chipset drivers, i should have my virus protection in bios disabled and my bios flash protection disabled, right?

Hi,
I had probs with my NFORCE2 chipset. Kept rebooting after installing the NVIDIA drivers. Maybe my solution may help you.
The RAM speed was being set by SPD. When I manually changed the BIOS setting for my RAM from SPD to the recommended settings, all my problems disappeared. Now the PC is stable and overclocked.
I think the NFORCE2 chipset is very picky on the RAM you use. Even if its a good brand, it always best to set the speed and timings manually.

It's not really picky, ya just have to know what do do with it. ;)
DarkRose, after ya install WinXP, install SP1 if needed and then load the mobo drivers. Your installin' the video b4 hand is very likely ya problem but as I keep repeating, set the memory at the same speed as the FSB with that chipset.

Got my memory at 1:1 to match CPU, no change, use the drivers off DFI website, nVidia website (same newest drivers) no change. the first message i get is
lsass.exe System Error
An I/O operation initiated by the registry failed unrecoverably. The Registry could not red in, or write out, or flush, one of the files that contains the systems image of the Registry
then on to
Window - Delayed write failed
Unable to save all the data for the file (insert one of several here, including c:\windows\system32\cinfig\SysEvent.evt) Some of the data has been lost. This may be caused by failure of hardware or network connection. Please try to save this file elsewhere.
how important are these drivers? don't they drive my SATA and USB 2.0? everything is peachy until i install them. did it immediately after SP1 upgrade, same. re-install XP, installed SP1 and BIOS update, same. everything i do ends up with the same result

I am guessing its either a Microsoft:flames: SP1 prob (that needs patching somehow) or a hardware problem.
Try running memtest86 on it, that will test the memory, cpu and mobo.

I think I've tried every combination possible, drivers from CD, newest from website, after win xp install, after xp install and SP1 update (w/o SP1 it gives me a message about USB 2.0 supposrt if i don't install SP1). I haven't used any tweaks whatsoever, i've tried the mobo drivers before installing video drivers, after, no change. i can install all drivers from the mobo CD except the nForce chipset drivers, the USB, audio, LAN, etc. work fine.... Getting ready to e-mail nVidia and DFI because I'm getting nowhere....
Think I can now install XP Pro in my sleep, have installed 20+ times in 2 days.... grrrr  :grr:Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 Rev. 1.1

i find the Nvidia Unified Drivers v3.13 arent too good, a few people have had problems with 5.1 sound. i am going to stick with either 2.03 or 2.45. i am on 2.45 but its not running too good, thats probably because i installed 3.13 then uninstalled 2.45 after everything else was installed. :(

I loked up system events, after running the windows scandisk and memtest86 and finding no errors, had a lot of these

could this be causing my errors trying to install the nForce drivers, and if so, do i need to RMA my HD? (Maxtor 80Gb SATA, new)Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 Rev. 1.1
