Hey all,
A friend of mine recently had a mishap with his computer (what caused it we're not sure). The short of it is he had to replace his mobo and video card. Currently he's running the following stuff:
P4 1.8
Asus P4SDX
Chaintech GeForce Ti4200 8xAGP
SB Audigy
WD 80GB HD
First problem: the video card "flickers". When Nvidia's drivers aren't loaded, it's alright. It just loads windows and pages really slow. Obviously not the performance you want out of a quality card. When you load up the latest Nvidia drivers, all hell breaks loose. The screen "flickers", and I mean in a bad way. The screen goes black for a few seconds, then it comes back for a second or so. Rinse and repeat forever. As I said, this is using the latest Nvidia drivers. I threw in my ATI Radeon Pro9600 and it worked fine, so the issue is with his vid card. Bad card, or incompatiblillity problems?
Second problem: The sound card is not being identified. I've uninstalled everything (hell, I reformatted his entire HD after installing the new mobo) and even tried loading it in safe mode. No help. On his previous mobo there was no problem like this.
Any helpful suggestions would be of great help. This is frustrating as hell.
Thanks.
