  • Audio problem

Hello everyone, I am having trouble with the audio quitting on one of my pc's. It just randomly stops working and requires a reinstall of the drivers. The computer is DFI LP DK X38, Q6600 @ 3200mhz, 4GB GSkill F2-8500, Geforce 9800 GTX, WinXP SP3, Creative XFi XtremeMusic, and 2 WD 300GB HDD's. I had originally been experiencing the problem with the onboard Realtek Audio and I just recently installed the XFi soundcard in the hope that it would fix it. Well it worked for a couple of days and just quit working again. There are no errors or problems detected in the device manager or dxdiag. I have tried using different speakers and headphones but nothing works. The only thing that seems to work is to reinstall the audio drivers. Its getting freakin' annoying.....any ideas?

      Re: Audio problem

Have you checked the windows event viewer to see if there are any recurring problems?

It might be a cable connection issue.
Power off your system, turn off the power supply using its on/off switch, then press and hold the front panel on/off switch for 10 - 20 seconds.
Unplug and reconnect all cables in your system, then remove and re-insert your memory modules and any plug-in cards.
Check for any bare wires that might be causing intermittent short circuits.
While you're at it, clean out any dust in your computer case, including heatsinks and fans and empty motherboard slots.
