Have a comp I put together a year or so ago with parts I got from Fries and left over computers of my past. Forget the motherboard (don't want to look) but it runs a AMD 64 processer 2.21 GHz 1 gig ram, All in wonder 9700 and Audigy2 sound card. Decided to put all of my music on one large hard drive (H) the problem is it comes and goes. I fire the beast up and there it is, go back a couple hours and the drive is gone. Nowhere to be found, reboot and there it is???? Any ideas?

Check connections on IDE and power plugs. Try a different IDE cable. Run a disk diagnostic program from the hard drive manufacturer. Yeah it might be time to go in and move things around. I have 4 different hard drives from western to seagate to something else. Is there a program out there that checks for optimium hardware settings and configs? I have a feeling if someone who really knows computers ever looked at what I put together would scratch their heads and be amazed that it works at all.Comment

Had the same problem except it was with a CD-ROM drive. Basically just replaced the IDE cable and put all HDDs on one cable and CD Drives on the other. Seemed to fix it.
