When I first arrived at my duty station in West Germany (yeah, kids there were two of them back then) we had to take a basic german course.
Most GI's never cared to learn or use more than; "Eine bier bitte.".
I did attempt to go beyond that a bit - though I do not claim to speak Deutsche.
I used that phrase; "Christina fahrt ubermorgen nacht Bonn." whenever I got in over my head. Just say that - smile - and walk away.

Translation; Christina left for Bonn last night.

For some reason that phrase just stuck in my mind from the classes:D

Slamo,Quit being a ditz. Spainish and Mexican are thge same thing. :rolleyes: ( I should know!Califonia is across the border for Mexico (duh) and my two best friends are either Mexican or European Spainish!!)

I shall tell some words:
Food - eten
hello - hallo
earth - aarde
smile - lachen
greetings - groetjes

I found that written dutch looks a lot like German, which made it pretty easy to read signs and such. Once you hear the words spoken, they don't sound anything like they are written. At least not to me.:p :wave:
