Unfortunately, it is quite serious. As I stated, it's a cultural thing.
HBO a while back had an absolutely horrid documentary on restaurants in China - I won't go into any of the details. But cat and dog are very popular dishes among those folks

My mother would back you up 100% on that one WS...... she also likes Stingray, Mud Crabs, Prawns, straight oysters..... virtually any seafood actually :D
I once ate 8lbs of crab legs in a sitting. They said "all you can eat" and I wanted to see if they meant it. :laugh:
No, I am not kidding. :laugh: A bunch of friends and I went to a quaint little seafood place near home and it was crab night. I was still wrangling crab legs when they were on dessert. :laugh: I probably could have finished off another pound or two, but they were bored with watching me put away crab legs.
It actually burned to the ground later that year. The owner probably thought it was smarter to take the insurance money and run, rather than risk me coming back for more crab legs :laugh: :laugh:
